Describe the place you grew up.

I was born in Bloomington, Indiana, in May. My house was big. We had lots of rooms, a study for Daddy, an attic, a basement and a big garden. Phoebe, my sister, and I used to play hide and seek (when we weren’t arguing) and the games would last for hours.

I had tennis lessons, and I became captain of the tennis team for my school, The Meadows. I wanted to give it up, but my parents, being the traditionalists they were, wouldn’t let me. I’m glad they did, tennis saved my life.

Summer at home would be killer. Outside didn’t have air conditioning. Outside had sun rays which would blister my shoulders (even after I put sun protection on). But outside I would be, usually by (or on) my tree. I’d stay there for hours, reading, studying.

To think, I would take the piss out of my ex-fiancé for reading so much.

I want to get home, just to sit on my tree.

What is your favourite time of day? Why?

My favourite time of day would have to be 0300 hours. It’s one of the only times Voyager is quiet. I can walk around the ship, minding my own business. I can forget I’m captain, if only for a moment. At 0300 hours, you can make some indecipherable leap and solve a puzzle that’s been annoying you for days. The “night” of the ship allows me to shine light on problems. I would work on homework at three am when I was in the Academy.

Having 0300 hours as my favourite time of day is asking for trouble. I usually take Alpha shift, which starts at 0800 hours, so I either pull an all nighter (which I usually do), or I go to the Bridge, hand it over to Tuvok or Chakotay, then sleep for two hours in the Ready Room. However it all depends on the situation.

Then again, at 0300 hours, nobody, except possibly the Doctor, uses the Holodeck, allowing me to relax in one of the many locations programmed. Heaven.
